Our friends at CROSS Zlín, a.s. have successfully completed a unique intelligent transport system project in Hradec Králové.
What is C-ITS?
C-ITS stands for Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems — technologies that use wireless communication to enable vehicle-to-vehicle (Car-to-Car / C2C) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (Car-to-Infrastructure / C2X) interaction in real time.
One of the key benefits of this technology is vehicle prioritization at intersections, not only for public transport, but also for emergency response vehicles.
Thanks to C-ITS, an approaching ambulance or fire truck is detected not only by the intersection controller, which ensures a smooth and safe passage, but also by surrounding C2X-enabled vehicles, where a warning appears directly on the infotainment display.
We believe it won’t be long before we can celebrate the first C-ITS system in Slovakia as well.
