Did you know that together with the Road Administration of the Bratislava Region we are currently testing a revolutionary device called 2DRoad on Pezinská Baba?
This meteorological camera uses infrared spectrometry to monitor the road surface, providing detailed information about slipperiness, wetness, snow, and ice. It can even detect invisible black ice that cannot be seen by the naked eye. The sensor analyzes a surface area of up to 6 × 6 meters, allowing for an accurate and comprehensive overview of road conditions across the entire width of the roadway.
On the video recorded during one of the first snowfalls 🌨 in December 2022, you can see 2DRoad in action, detecting changing road surface conditions on Pezinská Baba within just a few minutes. This demonstrates the reliability and responsiveness of the sensor in adapting to shifting weather conditions.
This technology will not only improve winter road maintenance management, but also enhance traffic safety and flow.
Dispatchers can monitor the road conditions on Pezinská Baba directly in the Invipo integration platform, along with the status of intersections and live camera feeds above them. But more on that next time…
We’re excited to bring innovations like this that help improve our road infrastructure and keep drivers safe.
